Soil nailing is commonly implemented to strengthen the weak structure of the soil on the very steep slopes. However, soil nailing does not provide protection against surface erosion on these slopes. Application of Vetiver bioengineering is a perfect compliment for controlling the surface erosion problem of soil nailing. The slides demonstrate this complementary effect in Medellin, Colombia, and Vietnam.
